Your Right to Enter for Free
Under the Gambling Act 2005, Section 14, any competition that charges for entry must also offer a route to enter without paying. This is the law, not a courtesy. If a site does not offer free entry, it is operating illegally.
The most common free entry method is postal entry. You write your name and address on a piece of plain paper and post it to the operator's address. Your postal entry is included in the draw alongside all paid entries and has an equal chance of winning.
How to Enter by Post
Write your full name, address, and email address on a plain piece of paper. Post it to the competition's address (found in their T&Cs). One postal entry = one ticket. Check the T&Cs for any restrictions on the number of free entries per person.

Free Entry vs Paid Entry — What are the Odds?
Your free postal entry gets exactly the same ticket number and the same chance of winning as a paid entry. There is no "second pool" for free entries — it's the same draw. However, if you send one postal entry and a paid entrant buys 50 tickets, they obviously have 50 times your chance of winning. Free entry is a legal right, not a guaranteed route to winning.
