Are House Raffles Legitimate?
Yes — when run correctly, house prize competitions are entirely legal in the UK. They operate under the same laws as all other prize competitions: the Gambling Act 2005, Section 14, which requires a free postal entry route alongside any paid entry method.
The key legitimacy signal is whether the property actually transfers to the winner via standard UK conveyancing. Both Omaze and Raffle House have a track record of completed transfers with publicly identified winners.
Cash Alternative

What Happens if You Win a House?
If you win a property, the operator will contact you directly. You'll need to:
- Confirm your identity with valid photo ID
- Engage a solicitor to handle the conveyancing
- Pay Stamp Duty Land Tax on the property value (the operator does not cover this)
- Cover any ongoing costs: insurance, council tax, service charges if applicable

What are the Odds?
House competitions typically sell between 50,000 and 500,000 tickets per draw. At maximum entry volumes, your odds for a single ticket are extremely slim. Buying more tickets proportionally increases your chances, but realistic odds for a single ticket are generally in the range of 1 in 100,000 to 1 in 500,000.

History of UK House Raffles
